I love to read, particularly where the escapism of the story is enhanced with an element of fantasy or science fiction. For me, writing is simply an extension of that journey, but I get to decide what happens next (though it's amazing how often the characters seem to decide for themselves what I'm going to write!).

Josie Jaffrey has created a wonderful world with her Solis Invicti series and the Sovereign spin-off, and with each book I read I find myself sucked in ever deeper. With The Blood Prince, I was both desperate for more and scared of saying goodbye. It’s a world I’ve come to love, one I’ve come to truly adore, and I was determined to savour the experience.
I was also desperate for answers, meaning I devoured The Blood Prince in the same way I have devoured all my Josie Jaffrey reads.
If you have yet to read The Gilded King and The Silver Queen, turn around and do so now. Not only are they fabulous reads, they’re also necessary to understand all that comes into play during The Blood Prince. If you read the Solis Invicti series, you’ll have additional understanding, but it is not necessary to read the series to understand this one. By the time you’re finished with the Sovereign series, however, you will find yourself willing to dive into every Josie Jaffrey story you can get your hands on.
From the very first page, The Blood Prince sucks you back into the action and intrigue of the world. With plenty of questions left hanging at the end of The Silver Queen, with plenty of things we with to see play out, it is not long before you’re working towards the action and answers you desire. Of course, in typical Josie Jaffrey fashion, we also have new elements introduced.
I’ll be completely honest and say I was uncertain at first when it came to some of the new elements. I found it difficult to work out where the new elements were going to take us, and I was unsure if I would like the direction. After all, some of these things were completely unexpected and against what I’d thought we’d be receiving. Then, as more details came together, I found myself sucked in. It became an aspect that intrigued me on multiple levels, and the new aspects sucked me in deep.
Add in the way everything came together, the answers we were given, and I was lost. I had so many fangirl moments throughout – mainly with Cameron and Felix, because I’m so invested in their story arc – with countless things leaving me with all the feels. There really is so much development to see in this one – throughout the book, throughout the series, and across the series – making it a beautiful thing to see.
Without a doubt, The Blood Prince concluded the Sovereign series in a beautiful manner. If you have yet to start the series, you need to go and amend that now. Josie Jaffrey is an author to watch, and this series forces you to new heights with addition.
To put it bluntly: so damn good.

Through the journey, i’ve became even more attached to Julia’s, Lucas’ and Cam’s characters; cherishing their very different relationships than one another’s. But especially the one between Cam & Felix that was so particuliar and sensual, even though the love wasn’t developped the same way at all.
My heart will forever melt for Lucas, who quite sincerely makes me think alot of Alex in his behavior and i’d very much enjoy to read about him again. From the middle of the book I’ve cried countless of times, a happy and a sad cry at times (never underestimate my ability to cry for anything..)

The Blood Prince is the third and final novel in the Sovereign series. If you didn't catch my review of The Gilded King, the first book in the series, you can read it here. I was completely enthralled by TGK and gladly volunteered to ride out the series. I love how the covers emerge with the story, changing from the tiniest creep of Red on TGK, into this bold, saturated beauty.

This book was action packed. Lots of Weepers. People become stronger and people fall in love. Emmy is very upset and acting out because she can’t find her son. We find her son and it is a very action packed ending. Worth the read!!

The last instalment in the series, The Blood Prince is ultimately a great conclusion and wrap up for the Sovereign series. It didn't feel too rushed and wasn't too slow which I really enjoyed and the climax of the story got me at the edge of my seat.
I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before but I really like the narrations that go back and forth between Julia and Cam. I'm just so intrigued by the entire world building that perhaps there should be more. Maybe the author could consider writing more stories that are based off of this because its just too good.
You know me, I love a strong female character and Julia can be described just like how I envision her to be. She isn't afraid to fight for something she desires and make herself known that she isn't someone that you can easily dealt with. I was seriously despaired when I thought that she would even have feelings for someone like Rufus. I mean, Lucan who is all perfect is there and why the hell would you choose him instead? Lucas has even silvered for her and deep down, I know that nothing could come between the two of them.
The ending was just perfect since the author highlights world peace and fighting for a better one that could even be so much better than the fairytales. This story proves that nothing is impossible and I'm so happy that I got the chance to be introduced to this amazing world of the Red and Blue. I know now that this series will be one of my favourite dystopian series which I will want to recommend everyone to read it.

The Blood Prince is the perfect end to this amazing series! The story of Cam and Julia continues and it gets really interesting. You’ll want to keep on reading but at the same time, you’ll not want it to get over.
The epilogue was absolutely beautiful and this is one of the definitely one of the best dystopian series!

After The Gilded King and The Silver Queen, I couldn't pass up the conclusion! I am thrilled to be part of a blog tour (see my website); Sovereign is one of the most engrossing trilogies I've read in recent years! A review copy was provided in conjunction with this blog tour and in exchange for an honest review.
Review
The Blood Prince is book three, and I am guessing that you have been with me for the first two books. That said, let me bring you up to speed. Julia (human) wants to eradicate the vampire race by curing them with tainted blood - this will turn them human again. She shares this goal with Cam (vampire). The weepers (zombie-like beings) are a major threat to the humans with untainted blood. And a rebellious faction of vampires is trying to gain control of the last untainted humans. Add Cam's and Julia's respective relationship issues. Political machinations, a search for a lost prince, relationship problems, zombies: all crises come to a head with Julia at the center. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll leave it at that. If you like books with any of these characteristics, the Sovereign series is one you should pick up. Start at the beginning now (The Gilded King is even free today), and you'll be ready for The Blood Prince when it is released on February 20.
The Blood Prince is thrilling, revealing, gratifying, and the ideal culmination of the series. The world as the characters know it is irreversibly changed, readers learn vital information about the characters (like who the missing prince actually is), and the relationship developments I had hoped for did in fact transpire (though not without multiple bumps in the road). And after a two-day suspenseful, stay-up-to-read-it ride, I reached a mostly satisfying ending. I say "mostly" because I just don't want this series to be done. I can only hope that Jaffrey will continue writing about the characters to whom I have grown so attached.

I was so excited to get on with this because The Silver Queen ended with a question hanging that really hyped up the next book. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed! It feels so good to be able to read and review two books that are both the last in a trilogy!
With the first two book being really good, I felt safe in reading The Blood Prince because I know it was really going to be an awesome reading experience.
Characters
Okay, I have new favorites! Yaayy for one of my fave ships, Cam and Felix! Cam was tougher but his real weakness was shown. You may not trust Felix that much while reading this book but their connection would really surprise you. Their connection is one of a kind and you know their love is pure. It’s the kind of love you’d wish for and I’m so rooting for the two. One of the best M/M romance I’ve ever read! It was like Yuri on Ice but more serious and instead of figure skating, you fight zombies!
I know all I did was talk about in my previous review was how Julia’s character improved a lot in the second book. She was my favorite back then but she just made me want to slap her sometimes. Well, just for her to go back to reality. I don’t understand what game she’s playing sometimes but God, I really hate love triangles because it frustrates me LMAO. I just want her to make up her mind because I luuurvee Lucas! But well, what I still liked about her was her fighting spirit. For fighting for what she believes in and what she thinks is right. She fights for the freedom of the human race so she’s still got my vote!
But again, Josie dropped some serious surprises. We get to know each character more (even a little backstory for some of them). And was I surprised to find out the connection/s between some of them? Well, hell yeah! Another plus point is for not making the characters perfect. They each have some trait I hate which I think is good because it makes them more realistic.
I only had trouble remembering the names of some of the Invicti but I actually was able to follow what was happening and who was who (which is a really rare thing for me).
Setting & World-building
Once again, I applaud Josie for creating a wonderful world. And I consider myself blessed for having read two trilogies side to side with amazing world-building. The author was able to craft a fantastic spin on zombies and vampires.
There are different terms used throughout the trilogy so I really recommend readers to start off the Gilded King and follow the story in order of the books to avoid confusion.
There are still two lands: The Blue (safe) and the Red which is still labeled as the unsafe one because of lots of Weepers (zombies) wandering. If The Silver Queen spent more time exploring Red, well this one spent more time into the wilderness.
Blood being the center of everything made the trilogy interesting. There are lots to learn and you won’t be able to believe how much power it holds. It’s like a bloody revolution!
One of my favorite features of the world is how a noble silvers for his/her lover. When a noble (vampire) falls in love with someone, their irises would turn silver. But once the love is reciprocated, a noble’s iris would change to gold. It’s a very romantic thing and it’s so nice to read that despite everything that’s happening, true love still exists. Reading about it made me tear up a little (what a hopeless romantic).
It’s not your usual vampire or zombie read. Or have you ever read something with both vampires and zombies? Josie masterfully combined these elements to create a world full of surprises that would surely leave the readers wanting for more.
Plot, Pacing & Writing Style
I did not expect that this was going to be a fast read. It has a steady plot. It may still be told into two POVs but both are now going in the same direction. The Blood Prince was all about revenge and fighting for freedom and equality. With a little bit of drama.
What I used to enjoy with Cameron and Julia’s POV is that they��re telling two sides of the story. They’re in different places so you get to cover more ground and be aware of what’s happening on both sides. This book though still had their POVs but they were together. Cam was with Julia so sometimes I think it’s now just mainly on how the two feel and what’s on their mind. Still worked out pretty well though.
The first two books had a more serious tone than this one. I preferred this one because I wasn’t that much overwhelmed. There’s action and a little romance drama which is pretty great when executed perfectly. I enjoyed this the most and I’m happy with how things ended. Still wasn’t expecting a lot of plot twists!
This was a fast read too than the other two books or did the chapters got shorter? (which I prefer) And also having been able to read The Gilded King and The Silver Queen, I’ve noticed that Josie’s writing style was changing. It was a nice improvement and I even enjoyed how she had written The Blood Prince.
Josie Jaffrey had given us a wonderful conclusion to the trilogy which I absolutely adore. It did not leave me hanging and she wouldn’t leave you with an unanswered question. It was really satisfying especially if you have enjoyed the other books.

I’m so glad I became a part of this tour and I’m truly honored to talk about Josie’s books in my blog. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t discover such wonderful reads. This was a BLOODY AMAZING and MIND-BLOWING finale! I’m truly happy with how it ended, but sad that it’s over and I don’t know. I’m definitely feeling a book slump creeping in.
So, I binged The Silver Queen and The Blood Prince back to back and I’m glad I did cause there was no way I was going to just wait patiently after that insane cliffhanger. Not even a few pages into this book and I was already feeling uneasy about who could the Blood Prince be. I had my theories, but I kept switching back and forth. I did have someone in mind and I really hoped it was him. Jaffrey definitely kept me guessing the whole time and I loved that about this series. You never knew who was telling the truth and what delicious surprises and heartbreaking secrets you’ll discover.
This book played with my emotions and my heart so much more than I could take. There were so many messed up, but amazing FEELS that had me completely hooked. I don’t want to ruin the thrill and all the fun for you so I’m just going to say this — I had a change of heart quite a few times. That’s just how mesmerizing the writing was in this series! Jaffrey had a way with her words and storytelling that just gets into your head and heart and you feel like the characters. You feel their pain, their anger, their sadness, their desires, their desperation, and their happiness. I loved that about this book and this series and I think.. no I know that I’m going to reread this over and over. It’s become one of my favorite paranormal/vampire series and to say that I’m obsessed… well that’s not even close to how I feel about this.
Julia was one kickass heroine and I loved her to pieces! She’s fiesty, brave, kind, and independent. I loved her character growth the most. She was inspiring and I admired everything she fought for. Lucas had my heart from the very beginning. He’s the kind of leader I’d follow and fall hopelessly in love with. I loved the chemistry between these two and rooted for them so hard. I was honestly a bit worried at one point and my heart couldn’t take it if they didn’t have their HEA, cause after everything they went through, they both deserved to be happy.
I’ll always have a soft spot for Cam and Felix. Cam was one of my favorite characters since Book 1. I loved his fierce loyalty and determination. He’s someone I could totally picture myself being friends with. I may not have liked Felix in the beginning, but he definitely won me over and over. These two were really adorable. There’s just something about their bond and relationship that I found so swoony and endearing.
I don’t know much about Sol and Emmy since I didn’t read the prequel series, but I liked them. I thought their love for each other was sometimes cheesy, but I’m not going to lie… I really enjoyed it — their fairytale, their history, their unbreakable bond, their everlasting love, and all that mushy stuff. It was fun and I’ll definitely be adding the Solis Invicti series to my TBR.
The side characters were well-developed and fascinating. There were something about each of them that I liked. I even liked Rufus in the end. I know… how could I right? But Jaffrey created such great, diverse, and wonderful individuals that were realistic in ways that made me feel for them. Oh and I loved Hades. That horse had such an amusing personality.
In the end, I walked away with more than I expected from this series. The Bloody Prince was satisfyingly entertaining, wonderfully suspenseful and incredibly thought-provoking. There were plenty of fantastic action scenes, intense drama, heart-wrenching moments, delicious twists and revelations, and romances that will surely make you swoon. But more than that, Josie Jaffrey created a beautiful story about what it truly means to be kind, to fight for what you believe in, and to have the courage to do what is right. This may be a fun paranormal vampire story, but’s it’s also a story about friendship, loyalty, love, forgiveness, and hope. I truly really loved this series and cannot recommend it enough.
Do yourself a favor and add this series on your TBR. All the books are out now, so if you get sucked in (which I’m sure you will), then you can totally binge and enjoy all the FEELS! (which I know will be difficult not to).

So, I binged The Silver Queen and The Blood Prince back to back and I’m glad I did cause there was no way I was going to just wait patiently after that insane cliffhanger. Not even a few pages into this book and I was already feeling uneasy about who could the Blood Prince be. I had my theories, but I kept switching back and forth. I did have someone in mind and I really hoped it was him. Jaffrey definitely kept me guessing the whole time and I loved that about this series. You never knew who was telling the truth and what delicious surprises and heartbreaking secrets you’ll discover.
This book played with my emotions and my heart so much more than I could take. There were so many messed up, but amazing FEELS that had me completely hooked. I don’t want to ruin the thrill and all the fun for you so I’m just going to say this — I had a change of heart quite a few times. That’s just how mesmerizing the writing was in this series! Jaffrey had a way with her words and storytelling that just gets into your head and heart and you feel like the characters. You feel their pain, their anger, their sadness, their desires, their desperation, and their happiness. I loved that about this book and this series and I think.. no I know that I’m going to reread this over and over. It’s become one of my favorite paranormal/vampire series and to say that I’m obsessed… well that’s not even close to how I feel about this.
Julia was one kickass heroine and I loved her to pieces! She’s fiesty, brave, kind, and independent. I loved her character growth the most. She was inspiring and I admired everything she fought for. Lucas had my heart from the very beginning. He’s the kind of leader I’d follow and fall hopelessly in love with. I loved the chemistry between these two and rooted for them so hard. I was honestly a bit worried at one point and my heart couldn’t take it if they didn’t have their HEA, cause after everything they went through, they both deserved to be happy.
I’ll always have a soft spot for Cam and Felix. Cam was one of my favorite characters since Book 1. I loved his fierce loyalty and determination. He’s someone I could totally picture myself being friends with. I may not have liked Felix in the beginning, but he definitely won me over and over. These two were really adorable. There’s just something about their bond and relationship that I found so swoony and endearing.
I don’t know much about Sol and Emmy since I didn’t read the prequel series, but I liked them. I thought their love for each other was sometimes cheesy, but I’m not going to lie… I really enjoyed it — their fairytale, their history, their unbreakable bond, their everlasting love, and all that mushy stuff. It was fun and I’ll definitely be adding the Solis Invicti series to my TBR.
The side characters were well-developed and fascinating. There were something about each of them that I liked. I even liked Rufus in the end. I know… how could I right? But Jaffrey created such great, diverse, and wonderful individuals that were realistic in ways that made me feel for them. Oh and I loved Hades. That horse had such an amusing personality.

I am writing this review in honour of the official blog tour for the conclusion of the Sovereign series! I have been aboard the Silververse train since last year and to be there for the end of a trilogy is truly amazing. I look forward to what Josie Jaffrey has in store for the future.
Last month, I participated in the cover reveal The Blood Prince and it made me even excited to finally read it! I read an ARC of it shortly after and I was blown away! Once again a beautifully written book with incredible characters who each got the attention and page time they deserved. A worthy ending of a series.
The Blood Prince starts where The Silver Queen left off. City in chaos, both main characters encountered eachother but haven’t met and a strong overall determination to save the Blue from things outside and in. All of this evolves into so much more in a way you wouldn’t expect at first. At the start of this book you are already two-thirds into the series and it somehow still feels like this books starts another story that is part of something bigger. I loved it.
There is so much I love about the plot, but even if I explain it vaguely it is very spoilery, so you gotta trust me on this: this book was so well written that it felt like Josie has been writing the whole trilogy at the same time. All things line up so perfectly, that requires true talent. The plot unraveled bit by bit into something truly amazing and strong at a rate you don’t see often. So yeah, this book is really good!
The pacing of this book was brilliant. In less than 300 pages so many things happened and were said, an amount often not told in a book twice as long, without the book feeling rushed or very fast. Often you see that conclusions of a series end up being this big tome to include everything, but somehow Josie Jaffrey managed to say everything without having to double the amount of pages of the previous book.
Something worth pointing out is how well Josie’s writing style this type of stories. Dystopian worlds have different vibes than a civilised one and Josie Jaffrey can bring over all the colours, sounds and feelings of those things. Even though in that world certain things are normal, like being the only city humankind knows of, Josie still manages to shadow through that it isn’t and the characters know that aswell deep down in themselves. It is a certain kind of magic that hangs around the books in the Silververse.
If you haven’t already, you should definitely start reading this series. Especially as book one, The Gilded King, is free as ebook. I have the links to order both book one and book two gathered at the end of the cover reveal I did last month! It feels like truly something else in the YA section. It is a dystopian vampire fantasy series, a combination I haven’t seen before, and reading this it feels like this story, this whole universe even, is one of a kind.
Anyone looking for a good dystopian series, vampires and m/m rep from one of the protagonists, this is your jam. I truly recommend this series to everyone into YA fantasy, as I consider this book fit to be amongst all the big titles and names and everyone needs to know about it.
Long story short, this is an excellent conclusion in an amazing trilogy. The ending was perfect in all ways and I believe it hints at a possible continuation of the story in another series. Regardless, a very satisfying ending that left me hungry for more stories in the Silververse.

I’m so sad to be writing this review because it means that this wonderful series is over and I’m not prepared for that. ):
I honestly did not know that I could enjoy a vampire series this much, but Josie Jaffrey wrote them in a way unlike any other. The entire dystopian world that she built is entirely different from anything I’ve ever read and I fell in love with the series from the very beginning. Although I haven’t yet read her Solis Invicti books, which set the precedent for the Sovereign series, I still feel like you can really get to know this world and what is going on.
The Blood Prince picks up basically where The Silver Queen ended, which is good because I was feeling very antsy and on edge at the ending of that one. Nothing has changed but also so much has. There were a lot of new developments in this book, some which I saw coming and more which I didn’t. For instance (I’m not going to spoil it but-) the new stuff with Rufus is… so intriguing. I was not expecting it but it really took me for a ride and I loved every second of it.
My favorite thing about this series has been the narrations. All three books are told from two perspectives: Julia’s and Cameron’s (one human female and one vampire male). In the first book I expected a romantic connection between the two because that’s really the norm, but that doesn’t happen at all! The two don’t even cross paths in the first book, and though they do meet in the second, their stories do not really become closely intertwined until this last book. I think it’s incredibly cool that readers get to see the ongoing “war” through the eyes of both a human and a vampire. We are not left out of anything; we get all sides of the story.
I also love the relationships in this. I know, I know, did I really just say that? I’m always going on about how romance isn’t my thing but in these books… it is. I think that this final novel focused more on love than the other two, though they were certainly where the romances begin. In The Blood Prince, we get to see what these relationships are truly built of, and where they are going. Julia is romantically connected to a vampire named Lucas, though I’m not sure that you can really call it a “relationship”. She is a very indecisive person and she struggles throughout the entire book to figure out her true feelings for Lucas. Sometimes the pain she caused him made her a bit unlikable for a little while (Lucas was one of my favorite characters). Cameron actually has a very similar relationship type thing going on with a woodsmen named Felix (yay for some LGBTQ+ rep!!). Cameron definitely has a strong connection to Felix but does he actually love him? Read it and find out (;
Jaffrey is a truly amazing writer and I think it shows in the way she creates her stories. She nicely develops all of her characters (because everyone is vital to the story in some way), finds a great pace for the story to follow, and uses a mix of narratives to give you a 360° insight. Basically, she gives you the series you didn’t know you needed but are now sad to see end (I legitimately wrote in my notes: quick read; sad it’s ending). Since I enjoyed this series so much, I’ve vowed to check out the Solis Invicti series as well. And me committing to that much vampire reading shows true love, trust me. 11/10 recommend.

The Blood Prince picks up where The Silver Queen left off as the sovereigns search for their lost son begins. With scant detail about the lady who promised to deliver the Prince back to the Blue, Cameron vows not to rest until he finds him and implementing his plan to change the world upon his return. Heading back out into the Red with his partner Felix, Cameron soon discovers that things have changed in the short time he has been away and the forests are now overrun with deadly weepers as well as a host of enemies of an unknown quantity. His mission is tantamount to looking for a needle in a haystack, so will Cameron find the Prince or will his journey be futile?
Like Cameron, Julia has her own plan to change the world for the better, but to do so she will also have to venture out into the Red to bring back the weapon she needs. The question though is can she survive long enough to see her plan through to completion?
I’ve been contemplating for days about how I can write a review that will do this book justice and my only conclusion is just to write from the heart. The Blood Prince is an action packed, yet perfectly paced tale that had me squirming on the edge of my seat throughout – in a good way! It’s filled with so many twists and turns that at times I felt the helplessness of the situations just seep off the page, often unable to see how a conclusion would play out. I particularity loved how many of the characters motives were unclear and found myself suspicious of everyone right until the end, not knowing who was double-crossing who.
As the finale of a trilogy it was wonderful to have plenty of character development thrown in amongst the action as often in other books I have found this somewhat lacking as a series progresses. Josie has ensured that her characters have been written in such a fully rounded way that left me feeling satisfied without any of those annoying lingering questions. Having said that I have learnt from reading the previous novels that Josie is the master of surprise and The Blood Prince certainly finished with a huge twist that I certainly didn’t see coming, possibly leaving the door a jar for another series?
The Sovereign Series has been an absolute pleasure to read from start to finish, despite not being my usual genre. The unique dystopian world Josie has created sucked me in immediately and I have been at her mercy until the concluding sentence, hooked and desperate to see what would happen to her wonderfully created characters. She is an extremely talented author whose writing style has quickly earned her a place as one of my favourites. Her fabulously detailed descriptions allow me to vividly picture each and every scene and setting, transporting from my sofa into the world of her imagination. I hope that Josie’s books get the recognition they deserve her talent is epic!
I highly recommend this series to everyone, even if it may not be your usual read as it’s completely unique and unlike anything I have read previously. You do however need to read them in order as for me they don’t really work as standalone books.

Josie Jaffrey knows how to bring her series to an end with a huge crescendo with The Blood Prince! The author has kept the reader on their toes the entire series, including in the first series on which this one is based, and I for one was curious to see how she would conclude this one, and if she would "finish" it, and you will read for yourself to see how she left it.
The plot of this book is very well developed, having some nice twists and turns and finally revealing the secrets we have all been waiting for. Some you can guess earlier on, others were a little tougher to guess. The pace of the book was just right, never feeling rushed through the story nor did it ever drag out. There were a few moments I was like "no way" that fit just right to the story.
Now to the characters, I wish we would have read more of Emmy, but the story just wasn't as focused on her as the first series did, and probably a good thing since she did turn into a bit of a monster in this one, which sadly I wasn't a fan of but it made sense.
Sol strangely became more human than we have ever seen him which I did enjoy quite a bit and he was quite the wild card in this book and a key player although a hidden one.
Lucas to me was a bit "vanilla" in this story and could have been a bit stronger I felt, but again it did fit what he was supposed to deliver so I can't really argue with what the author was trying to accomplish. Thankfully in the end he came through strong and that is all that matters to me.
Julia, oh Julia, I really struggle with her throughout the entire series. Like I get it, I get where she is coming from. Her heart is in the right place and she REALLY wants to do what is right but there are times I just want to take her and shake her and be like WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING !!!!!! Like her obsession with helping the ones who have clearly don't deserve it in my eyes like Marcella, there are just times you have to cut your losses but she just doesn't. Maybe she is just the better person than I ever will be?
And now to the true hero of this series and my favorite character, and how could he not be? Cam has always been a standout character but he really shines in this one. He is always one who does the right thing and stands up for the things he believes in, and now more so then ever in ways you can't even imagine. There is no way you can not like cam.
I am not one for giving away spoilers so I will leave it at this. I have to say the author did an amazing job with this series bringing it to this end, or is it the end? You will have to read to find out and do yourself a favor, start at the beginning! I don't think these books really stand on their own and are much better if read as a series. Definitely a fantastic series and I am sad to see it is over. Curious to see what the author will come up next, I for one will definitely read it!

Stunningly Brilliant!
Josie Jaffrey took an innovative approach to a paranormal, apocalyptic story and crafted it into a captivating look at political power and greed.
I loved this story from the first page of Ms. Jaffrey’s Solis Invicti series. Having finished both series, I am more captivated than ever. In Solis Invicti, a virus is set loose in the world, turning humans into “weepers”, forcing the Silver (vampires) to reveal themselves to protect the remaining healthy humans. Emilia, Emmy, was our heroine, and I loved her fighting spirit. She had a hellish time trying to reconcile her loathing of potential human slavery with her growing attraction to the Silver’s golden god, Solomon. I thought Solomon was heroic in his own way, as were many of the Silver. It was an emotional roller coaster. I was as conflicted as Emmy, but I expect I would have made the same choice. Love wins.
In the second series, Sovereign, which to me was an extension of Solis Invicti, we jump forward several centuries. The Silver, who are now referred to as the Nobles, have complete control of the Blue. The Blue is what’s left of London where the first series is set. Humans are slaves. They do all the labor and some used as blood donors for the nobles, a very select few are selected for ennoblement (conversion to vampirism.)
In this book, the Queen has been returned to the King, but she has changed so much that even Cameron, who found and rescued her in the previous book, barely recognizes her as the Emmy who was his friend so many years ago. She makes some unexpected turns in her fervor to find her son, The Blood Prince. Cam goes back into the Red searching for the Prince. Umm…or maybe he just wants to spend time with the man he’s falling in love with, Felix.
Julia, back in the Blue and being stalked by the Uber-nasty Rufus, has hatched a plan to free humans from the Nobles. I figured out who The Blood Prince is in the previous book and was gratified to find that I was right. Yay, Me!
The biggest impact for me was the similarities of the war between the Silver in their efforts to have ultimate control of the human population and the current “wars” between political parties in both Europe and America. Human productivity is the prize, and the real winners are the global corporations. Dammit!
Whether in fiction or the real world, Ms. Jaffrey nailed it…

I loved this story from the first page of Ms. Jaffrey’s Solis Invicti series. Having finished both series, I am more captivated than ever. In Solis Invicti, a virus is set loose in the world, turning humans into “weepers”, forcing the Silver (vampires) to reveal themselves to protect the remaining healthy humans. Emilia, Emmy, was our heroine, and I loved her fighting spirit. She had a hellish time trying to reconcile her loathing of potential human slavery with her growing attraction to the Silver’s golden god, Solomon. I thought Solomon was heroic in his own way, as were many of the Silver. It was an emotional roller coaster. I was as conflicted as Emmy, but I expect I would have made the same choice. Love wins.
In the second series, Sovereign, which to me was an extension of Solis Invicti, we jump forward several centuries. The Silver, who are now referred to as the Nobles, have complete control of the Blue. The Blue is what’s left of London where the first series is set. Humans are slaves. They do all the labor and some used as blood donors for the nobles, a very select few are selected for ennoblement (conversion to vampirism.)
In this book, the Queen has been returned to the King, but she has changed so much that even Cameron, who found and rescued her in the previous book, barely recognizes her as the Emmy who was his friend so many years ago. She makes some unexpected turns in her fervor to find her son, The Blood Prince. Cam goes back into the Red searching for the Prince. Umm…or maybe he just wants to spend time with the man he’s falling in love with, Felix.
Julia, back in the Blue and being stalked by the Uber-nasty Rufus, has hatched a plan to free humans from the Nobles. I figured out who The Blood Prince is in the previous book and was gratified to find that I was right. Yay, Me!
The biggest impact for me was the similarities of the war between the Silver in their efforts to have ultimate control of the human population and the current “wars” between political parties in both Europe and America. Human productivity is the prize, and the real winners are the global corporations. Dammit!
Whether in fiction or the real world, Ms. Jaffrey nailed it…

The Blood Prince is the third book in this saga, so spoilers will be inevitable, but I will try not to advance much more than what's written in the synopsis.
So, we finish the second book with the return of Julia, who after venturing into the Red, reunites with Lucas and together they return to the Blue to save the city.
At the end of the second book, after the Queen is rescued by Cam and the Invicti, she returns, at last, to her beloved. And with her return discoveries are made: the queen had a child in captivity!
So the third book is, as the name implies, about a prince! But who's the prince? Is it whom was implied at the end of the second book? Will my theories from the first book prove to be right?
This book gives us many answers right away in the first third of the book but Josie being Josie gives us even more data to create more theories.
And I had a loooot of theories... There were some things that were kind of what I was hoping would happen, but there was times that my theories where completely wrong.
I passed half of the book shocked by Julia's actions. Yes, there were many times that I thought "MY GOD, WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THIS GIRL". This is Josie's type of writing, the story just flows, it unfolds without being forced and manages to end our hopes from page to the other. But GOD, I hated the love triangle. My heart was just broken and I just wanted to murder Julia.
The development of the characters has been remarkable from the first book until now, including the growth of Julia. This character claimed not to believe in fairy tales but it always seemed to me that she believed them because, for example, she unconsciously lied to herself about the true story of her parents. In addition, she went from being a slave in a sick society to a person determined to change her fate.
Julia is not the typical stereotypical girl who needs someone to save her: she saves herself! She always had the power to break free within herself, she just needed the knowledge and opportunity to do it!
Even Rufus grew up and for a moment I thought he had changed ... But Rufus is Rufus, am I right...?!
Cam also grew a lot and I was very pleased by the direction that the story of this character took. There was no more perfect end to it.
I also found the evolution of the covers incredible. In the cover of the first book the red is a small portion, in the second book the red grows and already begins to invade the blue. Finally, in the latter Red invades the Blue in strength, representing well what's going on in the story. These covers are genius work! *applause*
Throughout the book I found myself so entangled in the story, I was completely oblivious to the real world, and the closer I got to the end the saddest I was, because it meant that I had to say goodbye to these characters and this world...
Believe me when I tell you that you can not miss this magnificent trilogy!

After the awakening of the Silver king and the return of the Silver queen, life in the Blue should have improved. However the queen is not the same woman she used to be. Desperate to find her son, so that he can get his friend and queen back, Cam is once again heading into the Red.
Julia’s life in the Blue isn’t any easier either than before the awakening of the king either. Rufus is still determined to make her his and is quite happy tormenting her and driving a wedge between her and Lucas. Fed up of being a human pawn in this Silver world, she has a plan. A plan that will change the Nobles and the Blue forever. She just needs some blood.
When Cam and Julia realised that their plans are aligned, they decide to work together to change their world - but can they survive long enough to see it through...
The Blood Prince, is a continuation of the dystopian world created in The Gilded King and The Silver Queen. Full of intrigue and betrayal, it’s the perfect way to end the Sovereign series.
For me the best thing about this series has always been the characters.
Julia’s character development throughout has been amazing. She has gone from being a weak blood attendant to a fierce, strong and independent woman, determined to do what she believes is necessary to restore balance to the Blue.
The real star of the show however has always been the relationship between Cam and Felix. Complicated and passionate doesn’t even cover it. I was glad that we got to see more of them together and that Josie didn’t write it as a simple romance. The added complications just made it more realistic and believable.
As with book two, my only criticism is regarding the amount of travelling there is and how repetitive it became throughout the series. For me those sections moved too slowly without very much happening. Having said that, it wasn’t as noticeable in this third book mainly because we were introduced to some new places and people.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great way to wrap up the series.
If you love a bloody, action-packed fantasy, full of romance, mystery and adventure then this series is for you!

If you have followed me for a while, last year I reviewed the Solis Invicti series which is linked to this series, but is the series to read first. And I fell in love with Emmy and Sol.
Firstly I love Josie's descriptive writing, the writing is well structured as always, I cannot critique Josie's skills. Josie Includes other languages, different backgrounds and sexuality.
Josie is very tasteful throughout her books, romance, action and suspense is present, however this series has been a struggle for me.
The characters - The dialogue is from two perspectives Cam and Julia, with the appearance of Felix and Lucas.
The blood prince dives deeper into their relationships, their obstacles that they must face which could change their futures forever.
However I wish there was more of a development between them all. I felt I was reading the second instalment of the series again.
Don't get me wrong I was in love with the Solis invicti series, I read the whole series in one week. However this book lacked the tension and romance that the story line between Emmy and Sol had.
Perhaps this series wasn't for me, I think I just missed the original characters too much. To be thrown into a new series 500 years ahead of the previous, and find the old characters have pretty much gone did throw me off.
The plot was simple - find Emmy and Sol's long lost son. When he was born no one knows. Emmy is turning dark, Sol is lost and the Blue just isn't the same anymore.
Julia continues on a developmental journey to become stronger, and is more determined than ever to prove she can tackle the red alone.
Cam finds love but faces the toughest decision of his lifetime, is Felix worth everything he has worked hard for.
I really enjoyed the overall dialogue between the characters, I just missed the amount of tension and action that was present in the Invicti series.
The ending was a little bit lacking, it felt rushed and would have really benefited from some more suspense.
I think I just wanted Emmy and Sol back, which is very selfish of me. But Josie I still love your writing, and the story lines are well thought out.

I loved the Solis Invicti series (reviews here 1, 2, 3, 4) and the first two books of the Sovereign series (review here 1, 2).
Josie has not failed to wow me again with the last book of the Sovereign series! Her addictive writing and spell-binding world building instantly pulled me back into the series and I didn’t even have to refer to my notes to remember what happened in the previous books.
It still kept the essence of the first series and it was constant throughout, telling the story in dual POV between Julia and Cam. I also loved how all the stories intertwined into one.
That betrayal had me in tears.
I think the ending was a nice way to end the entire series, high stakes and I loved how everting intertwined. Josie promises an elaborate and imaginative dystopian world where vampires and zombies exist.

The Blood Prince was a wild ride and I really enjoyed it! It was interesting seeing a different side of Rufus, who as some of you know I can not stand at all, he is a horrible person. He really grew in this book and I actually enjoyed him this time around. I seriously thought Josie was going to destroy my heart in this book when it came to Lucas’ and Julia’s relationship I was on the brink of tears many times. There was a major plot twist with Lucas that I had theorized and was really REALLY happy to see it confirmed! Also Cam and Felix melt my heart they just love each other so much and it’s so pure and wonderful! In the pervious book The Silver Queen Cams journey to save Emmy is completed he brings her back to the city and the King gets awakened. You would think it’s all happy ever after but it’s not it’s soooo not. Emmy is looking for their lost son and she is completely going about it the wrong way and is acting like a crazy person! So by the end of the book it was really interesting to see how all of her efforts played out. The Blood Prince releases on 2/20/2019 and I highly recommend this book and series for fans of dystopian novels as well as vampire novels.

This is the third book in Josie’s Sovereign series and it can not be read as a stand-alone novel. I once again will say, if you are looking for a more adult vampire novel but not one that turns into a smutty romance…this is the one for you, the entire series is actually!
It’s hard for me to review this novel when I enjoyed it so much. I sat for a while with a blank screen in front of me, unsure of what to write other than “This book is really good, go read it.” That being said, I apologize if my review is incoherent.
The third book in this series is packed with action. I couldn’t put the book down, well I could I just hated to do it. Especially because there was so much going on that I never knew what was going to happen next. I never felt bored, each time the story began to slow something else was thrown in that made you perk right back up.
As with the other two books, the story is told from dual POVs (point of view). We see Julia and Cam but eventually, their stories entwine and it is a great thing to see. This third installment really is a wonderful conclusion to the series and it ties all of the loose ends up nicely.
I absolutely love these characters! Complex and relatable…perfect! Well…not perfect but I love them the same. I’m sad to see this series come to an end.
Julia: She is the perfect example of a strong female character! She knows what must be done and nothing will get in her way. Even when things seem to fall apart around her, she finds a way to push on and make her plan work. I really love seeing her interactions between other characters and how she changes throughout the story. I did question her motives at times, wondering why she would…with…nevermind. I’d give too much away. You’ll have to read the book! Just keep your faith in her.
Cam: Silver, but not typical. Cam is unique in his own way. He has one goal in mind, to help his friend, Emmy/the Queen, find her long lost child. He might have just found something that he wasn’t looking for but welcomes just the same. Cam is strong but not in the sense that he is a jerk. He is compassionate, caring about everyone around him. Wanting to do things for the greater good. I really enjoyed his character.
Rufus: Ugh, I still dislike him. He is rude and assumes he knows what people want. He asserts his dominance whenever possible and just…I’m not sure. He just isn’t my favorite.
Lucas: Oh my, I love me some Lucas. If someone who has more talent than myself can get working on some fan art, that would be fantastic! He is sweet and handsome. I love that we learn so much more about him in this book, though he and Julia were not as close to the first part of this novel. He really is just…ok, I’m fangirling now. He is dreamy, we will leave it at that. Yes, I am ok that he is silver…I’d be his as Julia is.
Felix: He is someone who was introduced during the last book. I am so happy we were able to see more of him here. I enjoyed his character but at times I was not sure if I could trust him. I suppose that was intentional because Cam went through the same emotions I did. Overall, I really like Felix.
The King and Queen: I really don’t have much to say about them. We see small sections where they are present but they just don’t stay with me as much as the other characters do.
Once again, I love this world! That is why I am so excited to read the Solis Invicti series as well, it takes place in the same world. The imagery is stunning and I really feel the emotions, picture the surroundings, live the story alongside the characters. Josie really has built an amazing world with an entirely new race of beings, more than one to be exact. We still see silver Nobles, Weepers, etc.
The world is incredibly well thought out and detailed. It feels real…like nothing is missing, except me of course because how cool would it be to live there?!! Despite the Weepers and Nobles, I’d still give it a shot.

This book was the last book in the series and it really contained everything we needed. Passion, thrill and lots of gold and silver (Insider joke).
All my favorite characters got a part and they got stronger and stronger in this book. I loved how the development made me love characters I hated before and the other way around. That was really good story telling and character development! Also in this book were a lot more twists and turns than in the past two and I loved how it surprised me over and over again. Sometimes my heart just stopped some beats.
The plot was more than exciting and filled with action, but also personal stories, historical background (which added to the story overall) and existential questions we all ask ourselves I guess. That made the plot a wholesome for me and really great.
The characters and the story built an exceptional circle and made a wonderful book together. After finishing this series I really want to dive into this world again and find out what has happened before, where the silvers are coming from and which characters played a role in the prequel. I want to find out about Sol and Emmy and Cam!

Well, it's done. At the end, I want to punch Emmy in the face. That hasn't changed.
I feel like I've been in the world and visited it for so long. It's a comfortable place. Not the Blue, but the world of the Silver. Speaking of colors. I really liked when the story took us into the Red. The Blue was so lackluster, so confined. Jaffrey did a great job making me hate the status quo throughout all of her stories.
Back to The Blood Prince itself...Cameron's story was very captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed falling in love right along with him. Cameron's character feels fully fleshed out. I KNOW him. I LOVE him. I think I connect with him the most. I don't think I know Felix, so it's great to feel like I just want to be around him and get to know him, because that is what Cameron wants.
Julia's story was rocky for me. She is an independent, strong will, strong minded character. She never seems to do the things I WANT her to do, but that is Jaffrey's style (thanks goodness! How boring would a book be if everything turned out how I wanted it to turn out!). I do feel in the end that Julia's story is not done.
Lucas was a character I really liked in the beginning, but I grew to not understand him.
As for Sol and Emmy, well as much as it seemed like this was their story, it wasn't.
Overall, I'm sad to see them go. This was a great series. I highly encourage you to pick it up. There are so many wonderful things about it. It is thought provoking, and it's fun. I mean, blood and gore, but fun!

In this last book in the series, the Silver might have awakened but the Queen is a shell of who she was and Cam is determined t fix her by finding her missing son when he leaves for the Red. Rufus torments Julia but she has a plan to bring the Nobles to their knees using blood.
This was definitely an book through of drama, danger and excitement. As before the world building from the author is outstanding and that made the rest of the story gel together as a great story. Of the characters I feel the most empathy with Cam who does his best to do the right thing throughout the three books and this one is no exception. I wish I knew why I dislike Julia so much - she does nothing to make me feel comfortable with her - he just strikes me as a selfish person who seems to not care about anyone else but her agenda. Well written this was very enjoyable. I feel that the author could write more in this complex world she has created.

Well folks what an ending!
I love a series that when it closes all questions are answered and there isn’t any doubts as to what’s happened. Is there room for another book in the series, yes but it’ll be different characters stories; I feel like this book gave us everything we could possibly ask for!
I’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating, it’s a great original idea/story and I’m so happy to have read this amazing adventure. The characters hook you in and they plant a poet of themselves in your heart-for better or worse. The worlds of the Red and the Blue are so crisp and clear in my minds eye and the twists and turns never end!
Even if you do figure out what/who they are after it’s still an amazing story! It’s not a straight shot and it will have you biting your nails in anticipation. I can’t sing this book series’ praises enough-do yourself a favour and read it!!!

I'm unhappy. Not with the book. Not with the author (OK, maybe a little bit here - she messed with Sol and Emmy's HEA).
No. I'm unhappy, because a series that I have really and truly loved, is coming to an end. So, my enjoyment of this final chapter was bitter sweet really.
As always, the writing is excellent and pulls the reader along for a bumpy ride. I didn't like some of the choices that our protagonists made, but only because I was invested in a good outcome for everyone. I can't tell you whether that happens for every one of your favourites, but what I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt, is that this book will have some surprises in store.
Although not every question and possible plot line was wrapped up with a neat bow, this was nevertheless, a satisfying conclusion.

The Blood Prince is the thrilling conclusion to the Sovereign trilogy that starts with The Gilded King.
This one follows an expanded cast of characters as their world changes once again. The line between the red and the blue is starting to blur.
As I was reading, I wanted to know the fate of the characters I had grown attached to over the previous two books. But at the same time I didn’t want it to end because of the questionable fates. I was sucked in immediately from the first pages.
I am going to broach one question.....what would you do if your thought to be long lost son was right there under your nose?

This is a fantastic conclusion to the series! But, at the same time, I still want more from these characters. Josie Jaffrey has left the world open for another series —maybe just my wishful thinking.
I love that we get to see the story from both Julia and Cam’s point of view. As they travel, we see more from this world. Each book in the series has the world expanding beyond the gates of The Blue. It mimics the crumble and decline of the city.
I was not expecting the identity of the Blood Prince. While Josie has expertly sprinkled in hints throughout the series and pointing to a few characters I was still surprised when the Prince was revealed. Especially given the lengths the Invicti went to find him. He is The Blue's last hope. He might be able to right the wrongs of the city his parents created.
There’s no doubt that The Blood Prince is a beautiful conclusion to this series. Josie leaves the series off on a hopeful note. Change can happen. When it does happen it feels far sweeter than any fairy tale or dream you could imagine. I’m so thankful that Josie reached out to me and gave me the chance to explore The Red and The Blue. I love this series, and I don’t generally enjoy dystopian fiction. I highly recommend!

Incredibly original and so good you can’t stop reading
The Sovereign series is so emotionally provocative and well written that they embody the true purpose of fiction: to take the reader to a new world and immerse them in it. Jaffrey’s style is refreshing and addictive. This series left me head over heels for the main characters, and now that’s I’ve finished all three books, I can’t help but want to start them over from the beginning just to remain a part of the world Jaffrey created.

The third and final book in the Sovereign series has not disappointed. Once again, from the very first page, I was hooked into this vampire dystopian and following my favourite characters. The writing is excellent throughout the entire novel. It’s filled with action, romance, character development that is so true to real life. A wonderfully satisfying end to the series.

Absolutely loved this book - couldn’t put it down as I had to find out how the trilogy ended! It was finished neatly with no loose ends (that I can think of). I would recommend this trilogy to any fantasy lovers and I can’t wait to read the prequel series to explore this universe further.
